INDIVIDUAL SUBMISSION

Individual application via REBS system (IIUM Staff)
  1. Login using IIUM Credential (CAS)
  2. Click Apply
  3. Click IIUM Research Ethics Committee
  4. Click Add Application
  5. Complete the form and upload all the required document

Individual application via REBS system (Post-graduate Student/Undergraduate Student/Non-IIUM personnel)
  1. Click Sign Up link
  2. Fill your desired account name, password and email.
  3. Verify account using the link sent to your email. You will not be able to sign-in before your account is verified.
  4. Sign-in via the External User field using the username and password you have created.
  5. Click Apply
  6. Click IIUM Research Ethics Committee
  7. Click Add Application
  8. Complete the form and upload all the required documents

Attention!:

  • If you are applying for Clinical Trial, Registration must provide National Medical Research Register (NMRR) Registration ID. User can go to   National Medical Research Register (nmrr.gov.my) for registration. This is according to Arahan Pengarah Perkhidmatan Farmasi CT1-2009, whereas IEC cannot provide approval if the clinical trial is not registered with  NMRR.
  • Kindly be informed that IREC approval could only be obtained prior the date of data collection of the research. Any request for backdated approval will not be entertained.
  • IREC is complying with WMA Declaration of Helsinki and adopting it to all research including all non-medical research that is using human subject, tissue, and data. (e.g. Survey/Interview or others)
  • Ethics Approval must be obtained from each of the respective country the research is being conducted as per 75th WMA General Assembly, Helsinki, Finland, October 2024
  • IREC will not entertain any application for conducting research outside of Malaysia unless Malaysia is one of the research site countries (approval limited to Malaysian site only).

2.     Upload required document -General Individual application only

After registration, user will be provided with upload link via email, or you can visit the upload page using the link below.

After completion, user will get email response that the upload was successful.

User are given 5 working days to upload the document or the application will be terminated.

The processing timeline are initiated once the complete submission was done or any resubmission was done.

*For Clinical Trial Application with large file and unable to upload via the upload form above, kindly upload it via the one drive folder link below under one (1) folder labelled with IREC ID generated by the registration. Please attach together list of document submitted  (must be in excel format)!

Undergraduates Submission BY DEPARTMENT

BULK SUBMISSION

This is only for BULK application. The submission must be done by staff of the department (preferably Head of Department or his/her representative staff) only. Application submitted by students will not be processed. Only application with minimal five (5) or more are eligible for bulk application.

Instruction!

  1. Create a folder in your PC
  2. Name it using the following naming convention: IREC <Year> BULK-<Dept Abbreviation>- <Kulliyyah Abbreviation> Example: IREC 2025 BULK-DOVS-KAHS
  3. Complete this excel Sheet (can be downloaded below) and put into the created folder.
  4. Create 5 subfolder inside the folder and named it with the label Proposal, ICF, CV, Kulliyyah Approval letter, Data collection sheet (Questionnaire/Interview Guide/Proforma/dummy table etc.). Kindly sort all the required document as per the subfolder name.
  5. Upload the Main folder into Dropbox using the “Folder from computer”.
  6. Please do not archive (zip,rar,7z) your application.
