We are pleased to announce the opening of the JAMALULLAIL RESPONSIBLE RESEARCH GRANT SCHEME (JRRGS) 6.0.
OBJECTIVES
● Promote research in global sustainability through solutions that empower communities, encourage social inclusivity and improve the local environment (Perlis).
● Support projects that are motivated by important, innovative and solvable research problems.
RESEARCH FOCUS AREA
Each application should fit into one or more of the Perlis research focus areas as follows:
1. History and Leadership
a) The History of Jamalullail’s Family and Ancestors
b) Preserving the Sunnah Legacy: The Historical Reign of His Majesty the Raja of Perlis
2. Zakat, Waqf and Asnaf Empowerment
a) Empowerment of Asnaf through Zakat Distribution
b) Collaboration between Waqf Funds and the ‘Amilin for Sustainable Impact
c) Waqf for Community Development in Perlis
d) Asnaf Wellness, Economic Empowerment, and Social Wellbeing
e) The Role of Zakat Institutions (MAIPs) in Providing Mental Health Support alongside Financial Aid
3. Asnaf Agriculture and Sustainability
a) Sustainable Farming Practices and Income Enhancement for Asnaf Farmers in Perlis
b) Smart Farming Solutions for Enhancing Productivity among Asnaf Farmers in Perlis
4. Asnaf Mental Health and Family Support
a) Community-Based Mental Health Awareness Programmes for Asnaf Families in Perlis
b) Parenting Support Interventions to Reduce Stress and Strengthen Family Resilience among Asnaf
c) Developing Islamic Counselling Modules for Poor and Needy Families in Perlis
5. Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence
a) Advancing Digital Entrepreneurship with Artificial Intelligence
b) Practical Strategies for Digital Marketing to Promote Universities in Perlis and Strengthen Student Enrollment
c) Strengthening the Management of Islamic Institutions in Perlis through Artificial Intelligence
d) Visitor Data Tracking and Analytics via the MAIPs Online Service Portal
6. Education and Human Capital Development
a) Developing Debate, Public Speaking, and Oratory Modules (Malay, Arabic, and English)
b) Module Development for Mosque Management in Perlis
c) Education Modules for Islamic Schools under MAIPs
7. Tourism and Heritage
a) Tourism Development in Perlis through Islamic, Cultural, and Community-Based Approaches
8. Other Fields of Knowledge
a) Exploring Contributions in Architecture, Engineering, Law, and Sciences for the Advancement of Perlis
The research must have any principle of the five (5) principles of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah:
● Protection of Faith or religion (dīn)
● Protection of Life (nafs)
● Protection of Lineage (nasl)
● Protection of Intellect (‘aql)
● Protection of Property (māl)
DURATION
Research should be completed within a period of 12 months from the approval date, with up to 12 months extension (subject to good progress).
ELIGIBILITY
● Only ONE application per staff. A minimum of one (1) co-researcher is required.
● To include one (1) co-researcher from any university in Perlis, preferably from Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ).
● Open to all IIUM Non-Principal Investigator only
● The applicant is not on study leave.
● The budget is appropriate and meets the objectives of the grant.
● The research meets the objectives of the grant and is related to community development in Perlis.
● The proposals for non-research projects will not be entertained.
BUDGET
RM 10,000.00 - RM20,000.00 per project (Based on the impact of the research)
REQUIRED OUTPUT OF RESEARCH
● The researchers are required to publish at least ONE (1) indexed journal article (complete with evidence) within the 12-month research duration.
● Researchers shall acknowledge all fellow research collaborators (minimum one active academic) and all sources of funding openly in any publication or publicity.
● Must provide evidence of application, a minimum of 1 (ONE) application to an external research grant and record the application with RMC. The link is available at the RMC website.
