We are pleased to announce that the Call for Proposals 2026 is now open. As Japan’s sole National Research and Development Agency specializing in the field of information and communications technology, the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) is in charge of promoting the ICT sector as well as research and development in ICT, which drives economic growth and creates an affluent, safe and secure society.

  3. ICT for a Secure and Smart Community
  4. ICT for Health and Welfare
  5. ICT for Inclusive Digital Services and Governance
  6. ICT related Technologies and Applications
 
Important Dates
Period for proposal submission:    November 1, 2025 - January 7, 2026
Evaluation period:                          March 2026
Notice of results:                            April 2026

 
Application
  1. The institution of the applicant should be an ASEAN IVO member, and the applicant should be the project leader. Non-members can submit proposals for new projects as project leaders, but they must apply for membership and obtain approval before the deadline for proposal submission.
  2. The members of the proposed project must be at a minimum 2 institutions total, and from at least 2 different countries in the ASEAN region.
  3. Multiple institutions from one country as well as NICT and other Japanese institutions are also welcome to be members of a project team but will not count towards this minimum requirement.
  4. Institutions that are not members of ASEAN IVO can also be members of the project team.
  5. Leaders of ongoing projects cannot make new applications.
  6. Researchers can join a maximum of 2 projects as a project member, including ongoing projects..
  7. All institutions of project members should provide a “Certificate Letter” to certify the researchers of the institution have been authorized as project members to join the project team and the institution is ready to sign a “Collaborative Research and Development Agreement” for the ASEAN IVO project..

Budget
Max. 40,000 US$/project/year. The budget allocation is subject to change based on NICT’s fiscal year budget situation.
 
Projects
Around 5 projects will be selected in total. The duration of the project can be from 6 to 24 months.
If the duration is more than 12 months, the project will be reviewed by the Steering Committee.

We are excited to announce that applications for the Exploratory and Transformative Research Grant (GET) 2026 are now officially open! This is a premier opportunity to secure funding for high-impact projects that align with the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (RMK13).

💰 Grant Highlights

  • Funding: Up to RM250,000 per project.

  • Duration: 2 or 3 years.

  • Research Themes:

  • (a) Shifts in Economic Block Arrangements;

  • (b) Future Digital & Technological Changes;

  • (c) Demographic Changes & Quality of Life;

  1. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is pleased to invite all eligible researchers to submit a research proposal(s) under the Digital Society Research Grant (DSRG) and Digital Society Research Grant for Industry (DSRGX) programme. The Call for Proposals (CFP) is now open from Monday, 2 March 2026 until 5:00 pm on Thursday, 2 April 2026.

 

  1. This cycle focuses exclusively on 20 guided research titles developed by MCMC and their industry partners to reflect key national and sectoral priorities. They warmly encourage researchers to explore these themes and submit proposals that align with them. Only proposals based on these titles will be considered for funding.

 

  1. A virtual information session is scheduled at 10:00 am on Thursday, 5 March 2026. Attendance for this session is voluntary but highly encouraged as the session will include important advice and reminders on proposal submissions.
