RMC is pleased to share the grant available for application by The Habitat Foundation. The Habitat Foundation (THF) is a charitable trust established in Penang, Malaysia, dedicated to nature conservation. As a practitioner-led organisation, they champion conservation in action through environmental education and outreach, grant programmes, community engagement, partnerships, and foundation-led initiatives.

 
This grant focuses on conservation initiatives, cutting-edge research, innovative education programmes, sustainability-driven projects, training efforts or other pillars you are interested in. The goal is to strengthen species protection, enhance protected area management, and build capacity for sustainability and environmental education in all its forms. 
 
Requirement
  • Project must be carried out in Malaysia.
  • Not purely on academics or theory with no applicability to conservation or community benefit.
  • Special consideration is given to initiatives proposed within the Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is pleased to invite all eligible researchers to submit a research proposal(s) under the Digital Society Research Grant (DSRG) and Digital Society Research Grant for Industry (DSRGX) programme. The Call for Proposals (CFP) is now open from Friday, 22 August 2025 until 5:00 pm on Monday, 22 September 2025.
  1. This cycle focuses exclusively on 21 guided research titles developed by MCMC and our industry partners to reflect key national and sectoral priorities. We warmly encourage researchers to explore these themes and submit proposals that align with them. Only proposals based on these titles will be considered for funding.

We are pleased to announce that the application for the IIUM INDUSTRY MATCHING GRANT SCHEME (IMGS) is available in the RMS V2. The application submission deadline has been extended until 12 noon, Tuesday/2 September 2025.
 
Eligibility
1. Only ONE (1) application per staff.  A minimum of three (3) co-researchers are required;
2.Open to the following Non Principal Investigator
a) Professors;
b) Associate Professors;
c) Assistant Professors
3. The applicant is not on study leave;
4. Proposals associated with the IIUM Flagships may also be submitted provided they are research-based;
5. Proposals for non – research projects will not be entertained
 
Application
2. The application must be submitted together with a ready draft of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for collaborative research with Malaysian entities, acknowledging their participation and commitment. For international collaborative partners, drafts of Letter of Agreement (LA), Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) may be submitted.
3. The application must include a written commitment (LOI) from collaborating partners for the allocation of funds, with the monetary value for the research project.
4.  Application shall include at least 3 IIUM co-researchers who are experts in the field of study.

We wish to inform you that the application for the KOED SIDEK BABA COMMUNITY-BASED RESEARCH GRANT 2024 is now OPEN from 27th August 2025 until 9th September 2025.

 

OBJECTIVE

 

This is a community-based research project type of grant that is meant for KOED academic staff who have the expertise in a certain field to undertake a community-based project to help the community and industry to achieve capacity building attributed to the knowledge transfer by the experts (academician).

 

It is important that the academician who applied for this grant must already have the body of knowledge from previous research or project findings ready to be transferred to the community and industry concerned. Therefore, once the grant is awarded, the project leader and team are ready to execute the project for the beneficiary. The collaborator (community and industry) must have a genuine problem/issue in their organisation that requires intervention by an expert team to help them with capacity building.

 

The objectives of the proposal are as follows:

 

1)      to enhance the quantity and quality of research output from the Kulliyyah in terms of intellectual property and impactful research findings.

 

2)      to foster collaboration between the Kulliyyah and external parties (community and industry) that will lead to the exchange of ideas, resources, and expertise, which can enhance the quality and impact of research outcomes.

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

1)      Open to ALL KOED academic staff who are currently NOT Principal Investigators.

2)      A minimum of one (1) co-researcher is required

3)      The applicant is NOT on study leave or secondment.

 

 AMOUNT OF GRANT

The grant amount per project is up to a maximum of RM5, 000.

 

DURATION

The duration of the project is 24 months.

 

HOW TO APPLY

Interested academic staff are kindly invited to apply for the grant via Research Management System Version 2 (RMSV2) under the KOED Sidek Baba Community-Based Research grant.

 

Applicants are required to get the Letter of Collaboration / Letter of Intent with the selected community and industry and upload the letter via RMSV2.

All decisions by the relevant bodies are final.

We are delighted to announce that applications are now open for the Malaysia Science Endowment (MSE) Malaysia–China Science & Technology People-to-People Exchange, targeted at early- and mid-career researchers.
This programme, established under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The PRC Government is sponsoring 10 Chinese researchers to undertake research in Malaysia, while the Malaysian Government, through the Malaysia Science Endowment (MSE), will support 10 Malaysian researchers to further their work in the PRC.
The following are the details;-

Research institute or University or Company legally founded and operates in PRC.

The funding will be used to support living expenses, insurance and cost of a round-trip flight ticket between Malaysia and PRC.
Applicant Criteria
  • Malaysian citizen aged 45 years and below (born on or after 1 January 1980).
  • Full-time employee at a Malaysia’s research institute, government agency, or higher education institution.
  • Possess either a minimum of five (5) years of research experience or hold a doctoral degree.
  • Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English.
  • Ready to work full-time in PRC for the entire six months of the exchange program.
  • Have received Acceptance Letter or Invitation Letter from the host institution in PRC
  • Commit to completing the exchange program by the end of October 2026.

Dear Colleagues,

 

We are pleased to announce the opening of the Harun M. Hashim Research Grant (HAREG) 2025.  Below are specific terms for HAREG 2025 over and above the guidelines and procedures provided for HAREG.

 

OBJECTIVE

The objectives of the grant are as follows:
i)to intensify research on key areas of law;
ii)to advance the legacy of Harun M. Hashim in ensuring justice, integrity and fair play in conflict resolution and community relations at the national and international level;
iii)to support HMHLC and AIKOL in conducting research and impactful publication;
iv)to intensify the process of harmonisation of Shariah and law;
v)to produce quality programmes, modules and products for HMHLC;
vi)to provide aid to students indirectly through research grant.

 

CRITERIA

i)          Harmonisation of Shariah and Law/Tawhidic Epistemology (TE)

ii)         IT and AI Law

iii)        Comparative Law

iv)        Law, Integrity and Ethics

v)         Conflict resolution

ELIGIBILITY

This fund is to provide opportunity for AIKOL researchers to obtain grants and to embark on research activities. With that in mind, the preference under this grant is to award the grant to young researchers, particularly those who have yet to obtain a research grant.

Other eligibilities:

1.      One principal researcher & a minimum of one (1) co-researcher

2.      Open to all AIKOL academic staff

3.      The applicant is not on study leave

 

DURATION OF THE GRANT

Research projects shall be completed within twelve (12) months from the approval date by the HAREG Committee.

 

BUDGET

Considering the limited amount of funds available under the Harun M. Hashim Research Fund, in general, the amount of the grant that could be approved is RM5,000; and the funding scope of the Grant is limited to publication costs (RM 3000), Research Assistant (RM 2000), and approved limited travel for the collection of data.

 

REQUIRED OUTPUT OF RESEARCH

  1. Researchers are required to publish (complete with evidence) a minimum of 1 article in an indexed journal (or its equivalent)/a book/ chapter in book/conference proceeding with ISBN no. The HAREG Committee may prescribe other outputs (in addition or in lieu) consistent with the objective of the Grant.

  2. 2. Researchers shall expressly acknowledge HAREG, all fellow research collaborators and all sources of funding in any publication or publicity.

  1. As you may already be aware, the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) has introduced the Malaysia Laboratories for Academia-Business Collaboration (MyLAB) program. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry in the commercialization of research products by providing pre-commercialization funds. The program aligns with the growing demands for local technological advancement, innovation, and knowledge transfer. It is expected to accelerate the commercialization of research products and technologies, particularly in cutting-edge fields.
  2. We would like to inform you that the MyLAB 1/2025 grant application opens on 17 October 2025, with the closing date set for 31 December 2025. The MyLAB Grant Guidelines (2025 Amendment) and MyLAB Grant Application Form (1/2025) are attached for your reference.
  3. For your kind information, Technology Transfer Office (TTO) will conduct an initial screening and recommend a maximum of three (3) potential full project proposals to be submitted to the MyLAB Secretariat. Interested researchers are kindly requested to submit their full proposal and related documents to the TTO by Friday, 28 November 2025 for internal evaluation.

We are pleased to announce that this is the SECOND CALL for the IIUM INDUSTRY MATCHING GRANT SCHEME (IMGS) in the RMS V2 until from Fri, 24 Oct 2025 until Mon, 10 Nov 2025 .
 
Eligibility
1. Only ONE (1) application per staff.  A minimum of three (3) co-researchers are required;
2.Open to the following Non Principal Investigator:
a) Professors;
b) Associate Professors;
c) Assistant Professors
3. The applicant is not on study leave;
4. Proposals associated with the IIUM Flagships may also be submitted provided they are research-based;
5. Proposals for non – research projects will not be entertained
 
Application
2. The application must be submitted together with a ready draft of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for collaborative research with Malaysian entities, acknowledging their participation and commitment. For international collaborative partners, drafts of Letter of Agreement (LA), Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) may be submitted.
3. The application must include a written commitment (LOI) from collaborating partners for the allocation of funds, with the monetary value (RM 5,000 or RM 10,000) for the research project.
4.  Application shall include at least 3 IIUM co-researchers who are experts in the field of study.

Required Output
1. Any improvement of an existing process/system in the industry or NGOs to a higher level, with a minimum of ONE (1) level, AND
2. One (1) Publication of an article in journals indexed in Scopus or WoS or ERA or MyCITE. The article must be co-authored with a collaborator from the industry or NGOs).
2.1. Researchers shall acknowledge this grant as a source of funding and include the names and affiliations of all fellow research collaborators in any publication or publicity.

The IPDG is designed to promote technology innovation and the development of Technical Codes and standards under the communications and multimedia industry. The project grant is to be implemented in collaboration between universities and industry partnersThe collaboration will further enhance its capacity for effective and sustainable regulatory and policy formulation, while enabling the prioritisation of the most critical industry challenges to be addressed through the IPDG. Projects under this IPDG will generate greater impact, which output will shape the new technical standards and best practices that are much relevant to the industry and ensure wide adoption.  
 
This IPDG 2025 Cycle 1 initiative focuses on strengthening cyber resilience within Malaysia’s telecommunications ecosystem through the implementation of AI-driven Network Solution that enhances intelligent threat detection, autonomous response, and protection against advanced cyber intrusions. Hence, the project proposal is to address AI-Enabled Security for Telecommunications Network.

2.      Agree to post-grant commitments:

                    i.       To actively contribute and participate in MTSFB standardisation activities for minimum of three (3) years from the year Grant is awarded such as working group meetings, public engagement sessions, awareness events, Technical Code (TC) draft review, technical study panellist, speaker for selected events, etc.

                   ii.       To undertake the role as part of a drafting committee for at least one (1) TC within 3 years after the grant award.

Application
  1. The institution of the applicant should be an ASEAN IVO member, and the applicant should be the project leader. Non-members can submit proposals for new projects as project leaders, but they must apply for membership and obtain approval before the deadline for proposal submission.
  2. The members of the proposed project must be at a minimum 2 institutions total, and from at least 2 different countries in the ASEAN region.
  3. Multiple institutions from one country as well as NICT and other Japanese institutions are also welcome to be members of a project team but will not count towards this minimum requirement.
  4. Institutions that are not members of ASEAN IVO can also be members of the project team.
  5. Leaders of ongoing projects cannot make new applications.
  6. Researchers can join a maximum of 2 projects as a project member, including ongoing projects..
  7. All institutions of project members should provide a “Certificate Letter” to certify the researchers of the institution have been authorized as project members to join the project team and the institution is ready to sign a “Collaborative Research and Development Agreement” for the ASEAN IVO project..

Budget
Max. 40,000 US$/project/year. The budget allocation is subject to change based on NICT’s fiscal year budget situation.
 
Projects

If the duration is more than 12 months, the project will be reviewed by the Steering Committee.

OBJECTIVES

 The research must have any principle of the five (5) principles of Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah:

●        Protection of Faith or religion (dīn)

●        Protection of Life (nafs)

●        Protection of Lineage (nasl)

●        Protection of Intellect (‘aql)

●        Protection of Property (māl)

 

DURATION

Research should be completed within a period of 12 months from the approval date, with up to 12 months extension (subject to good progress).

 

ELIGIBILITY

●        Only ONE application per staff. A minimum of one (1) co-researcher is required.

●        To include one (1) co-researcher from any university in Perlis, preferably from Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ).

●        Open to all IIUM Non-Principal Investigator only

●        The applicant is not on study leave.

●        The budget is appropriate and meets the objectives of the grant.

●        The research meets the objectives of the grant and is related to community development in Perlis.

●        The proposals for non-research projects will not be entertained.

 

BUDGET

RM 10,000.00 - RM20,000.00 per project (Based on the impact of the research)

 

REQUIRED OUTPUT OF RESEARCH

●        The researchers are required to publish at least ONE (1) indexed journal article (complete with evidence) within the 12-month research duration.

●        Researchers shall acknowledge all fellow research collaborators (minimum one active academic) and all sources of funding openly in any publication or publicity.

●    Must provide evidence of application, a minimum of 1 (ONE) application to an external research grant and record the application with RMC. The link is available at the RMC website.
